For the second consecutive year, student visits at the Engineering Career Fair topped 1,000, this time being a record 1,086 visits. The 2024 mark was 1,001. The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering Career Fair was Sept. 17-18 at Club 71 and loge-level spaces in Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ campus.

Four new faculty members have joined the Lohr College of Engineering this fall.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ's Solaiman Tarafder is developing a new bioadhesive that not only holds tissue together, but also actively encourages stronger, faster healing.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ welcomes two new leaders to its ROTC programs this fall. Lt. Col. Gary Priest joins as commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 780, and Lt. Col. Heath Abraham as professor of military science for Army ROTC.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ President Barry Dunn has bestowed a Presidential Medallion upon Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ alum and supporter Jim Woster.

A seventh endowed faculty position has been created within the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ. The Metzger Educator in Power System Engineering was created in July by Blair and Julie Metzger of Rock Rapids, Iowa. Blair is a 1986 SDSU electrical engineering graduate and the former president of DGR Engineering, headquartered in his hometown of Rock Rapids.

SDSU is one of 12 universities nationwide to be selected by NASA to prepare a project for the Moon to Mars eXploration Systems and Habitation Academic Innovation Challenge sponsored by NASA’s Mars Campaign Office. NASA sought proposals from accredited engineering programs this spring and announced July 7 that proposals from 12 universities had been accepted for projects supporting space habitats and deep space exploration missions.

Gazala Ameen, assistant professor of plant-pathogen interactions at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ, has been awarded the 2025 Early Career Award by the American Phytopathological Society’s North Central Division.

Wenfeng An, a professor and pharmaceutical science researcher at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ, is engaged in research that has potential to lead to the development of vaccine for a variety of cancers.

A unique opportunity has been given to 14 undergraduate students by the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. The students were awarded grants that will allow them to conduct a research project under the mentorship of a college faculty member.
