Edgar McFadden, breeder of the aptly named wheat variety “Hope,” will be honored at a public ceremony and reception on Saturday, Aug. 29. The ceremony will celebrate the dedication of a new art sculpture, H.O.P.E. a Helix of Resilience: The Life, Journey & Legacy of Edgar S. McFadden.

For nearly two decades, Ģ������Ƶ’s Woodbine Productions series has quietly brought remarkable artists to Brookings — performances more often found in major metropolitan centers than on the prairie. The 2026-27 season may be one of its most extraordinary yet.

Ģ������Ƶ’s School of Performing Arts presents Anna DeGraff, lecturer of music, in a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Scott Cowan, a support services analyst at Hilton M. Briggs Library, has been named Ģ������Ƶ’s Civil Service Employee of the Month for August.

As the nation marks 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania — and reflects during the United States’ 250th anniversary — Ģ������Ƶ’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will present a public panel featuring firsthand accounts from that day.

Ģ������Ƶ is ready to welcome back students for move-in weekend starting Friday, Aug. 21.

Ģ������Ƶ colleges of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences and Education and Human Sciences honor Patty DeZeeuw, Elkton; Mary Duvall, Pierre; Jerry Schmitz, Vermillion; and Kevin Scott, Valley Springs; with the 2026 Eminent Leaders in Agriculture, Family and Community Award.

From aerospace to concrete, 25 clubs associated with the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering will be showcasing their work during the college’s inaugural Student Success Showcase Sept. 10 in the parking south of the Campanile. The event will be held in conjunction with the One Day for State fundraiser and celebration organized by the SDSU Alumni & Foundation.

Thanks to the generosity of Paul and Maria Wintrode, Ģ������Ƶ and the Sioux Falls School District are partnering to improve autism-specific education for both young adults and teachers who support them.
