Employee, Visitor and Applicant Accommodations
Accommodations
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ strives to be accessible to anyone attending university-sponsored events or visiting on campus. Accommodation requests are addressed through an interactive process that helps identify appropriate and effective solutions based on individual needs.
Below, you'll find information to help connect with the appropriate person or office regarding accommodations, physical accessibility and program accessibility.
You may be eligible if you:
- Have a physical or mental condition that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
- Need a workplace accommodation to perform your job or access the same employment benefits as other SDSU employees.
- Have a condition or accommodation need that is not already known to SDSU.
Email Human Resources to begin the accommodation process.
Employees
Employees, including student employees, who need disability-related accommodations to perform job duties or enjoy the benefits of employment can learn more about the process by reviewing the forms and policies page. Questions and requests for reasonable accommodation should be directed to:

The Human Resources representative will manage the interactive process to determine eligibility for accommodations, ensure consistency and fairness, facilitate discussions regarding accommodation needs, and maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding your disability and related medical information.
The interactive process is an ongoing, individualized dialogue between the employee and the university. As part of this process, the human resources representative will work with you, your supervisor and other appropriate individuals to explore potential reasonable accommodations and identify an effective accommodation. If needed, they will consult with the Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator to make sure the appropriate accommodation is provided.
The university may request medical documentation when the impairment or need for accommodation is not known or obvious. Information obtained during the accommodation process will be maintained in accordance with applicable confidentiality requirements.
The university will consider the employee's accommodation request and preferences; however, the university may choose an effective accommodation that enables the employee to perform the essential functions of the position and enjoy equal employment opportunities. The university is not required to provide the employee's preferred accommodation if another effective accommodation is available.
If an employee disagrees with an accommodation determination or believes the interactive process has not been appropriately followed, they may request a review by the ADA coordinator. The ADA coordinator will review the matter, gather any necessary information and facilitate further discussion as appropriate. If concerns remain unresolved, the matter may be referred to the Title IX and equal opportunity coordinator for review in accordance with university and South Dakota Board of Regents policy.
Digital accessibility ensures that everyone can access and use SDSU's websites, documents, courses and technology, regardless of ability. By creating accessible digital experiences, we support opportunities and full participation for all members of our community.
