Professor/Extension Specialist - Advanced Production Economics
Biography
Dr. Tong Wang is a professor and advanced production extension specialist in the Ness School of Management and Economics at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ. Her research focuses on the economics of agricultural conservation practices, farmer decision-making and the policy implications of sustainable production systems. She has led or contributed to multiple U.S. Department of Agriculture and National Science Foundation-funded projects and has provided socioeconomic analysis for multi-institutional, interdisciplinary research teams, with work spanning farming and ranching system sustainability and producer focused decision support.
Wang has published extensively in top disciplinary journals in agricultural economics — including Applied Economic Perspectives & Policy, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, and Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics — as well as high impact outlets such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Environmental Management, Land Use Policy, and Precision Agriculture. One of her papers was selected as the Best Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Paper for Impact and Quality by the Soil and Water Conservation Society. She has also received the Award for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ in Social Sciences from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the F.O. Butler Award for Excellence in Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ or Creative Activity at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ.
In addition to her academic research, Wang regularly publishes extension articles on the SDSU Extension website covering topics related to the economics of agricultural production. These articles have received broad media coverage at the local, regional and national levels.
