Biography

Takara Schomberg, Ph.D., is a certified nurse educator and certified healthcare simulation educator. She earned her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Missouri with a dissertation entitled "Rurality Matters: Exploring Nurse Suicide in Rural and Urban Populations using National Violent Death Reporting System Data."

She had previously completed a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in nursing education from Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ. Her graduate thesis work explored self-care agency and self-care practices in nursing professionals.

Her nursing background includes ambulatory care, functional medicine, gerontology and mental health nursing.

Her current academic interests include mental health and suicide, simulation-based learning, self-care and nursing education. She maintains professional memberships in several organizations on the local and national level.
