Biography
Steven M. Hietpas received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Montana State University in 1984 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1991 and 1994. From 1984 to 1989, he worked for the Space Energy Group at Space Systems Division of General Dynamics in San Diego. There, he worked in research and development of power processing and power electronics for the Shuttle Centaur and the International Space Station programs.
He was on faculty at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ from 1994-2026. From 2010 to 2018, Hietpas served as the head for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He served as the coordinator for the Center for Power Systems Studies from 1997-2026.
In his retirement, his interests include backpacking, cycling, fly fishing and spending time with grandkids and family.
