Thompson Center
Building Description
The Thompson Center is the learning and training facility for the counseling and human resource development programs at SDSU.
Newly renovated in 2024, the center has seven dedicated counseling recording rooms. One room is designed specifically for play therapy, one is designed for couples and/or family counseling, and another is designed for group counseling. Each room is equipped with digital technology to allow students and faculty to analyze sessions. On the main level is an active learning classroom with mobile furniture that promotes collaboration and can accommodate speakers and guests. Throughout the entire building is a sound-masking, 鈥渨hite noise鈥 effect that creates a comfortable and private atmosphere. The center is considered the state鈥檚 most comprehensive counseling education center.
