Attention, Engineering Freshmen

Bridge camp 2024

Jacks ELEVATE program is a one-week experience immediately prior to the start of the semester. The program emphasizes development of key skills to kick-off your engineering education on the right foot. Your week starts Sunday with the move-in to your dorm — before all other SDSU first-years — followed by a welcome picnic. Students and their families and SDSU staff are invited.

Activities for the week include:

  • touring college facilities, including engineering lab and workspaces
  • team and community building activities and projects
  • learn the places to eat, shop and play
  • meeting faculty, staff, department heads and the dean, plus industry leaders
  • workshops on wellness, study habits, leadership and communication
  • identifying campus and community resources

Program Objectives

  • Connect: Teamwork and peer collaboration
  • Navigate: Learn the campus, community and resources
  • Develop: Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • See: Science, engineering and research
  • Learn: Time management, study skills, good communication and leadership concepts
  • Be: Ethical, professional, teammate and friend
  • Have: Fun, fun, fun

No cost to participate

Yes, that’s right — no cost, no fees, nothing. Your early dorm move-in, your food, your first Jacks logo wear — it’s all included at no cost to you.

Support for the Jacks ELEVATE programs comes from the David and Shelley Frazee Scholarship Fund.
