Center for AI Innovation and Emergent Technologies

We serve as a central hub for advancing artificial intelligence literacy, innovation and responsible use across the university and beyond.

The center supports SDSU’s mission by helping students, faculty, staff and partners understand, apply and lead in a world increasingly shaped by AI and emerging technologies. Through teaching and learning, research, outreach and industry collaboration, the center will help prepare learners and professionals for the rapidly evolving digital economy.

What We Do

  • Advance AI literacy and competency across academic programs. 
  • Support faculty development, workshops, micro-credentials and professional learning.
  • Foster interdisciplinary research in areas such as agriculture, biotechnology, health, education, business and rural community development.
  • Promote ethical and responsible use of AI.
  • Build partnerships with industry, government, nonprofits and community organizations.
  • Create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience with AI and emerging technologies.
Our Mission

The center’s mission is to position SDSU as a regional and national leader in ethical AI innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and technology-enabled impact.

The center brings together faculty, staff, students and external partners to explore how AI and emerging technologies can solve real-world challenges. It will serve as a clearinghouse for AI-related curriculum, research, outreach and innovation.

Through speakers, panels, workshops, research collaborations and professional development opportunities, the center will build an AI ecosystem that benefits SDSU, South Dakota and the region.
