ADRDL Johne's Sample Container Guidelines
Best Practices for Johne's Sample Collection Containers
The SDSU Animal Disease Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ and Diagnostic Laboratory is recommending as best practice to submit all fecal samples for Johne’s PCR testing in rigid plastic, leak-proof, screw top containers. Additional processing charges will be assessed on sample submissions received in not recommended containers.
The Animal Disease Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ and Diagnostic Laboratory strives to provide accurate and timely Johne’s PCR testing. By utilizing the recommended fecal sample collection containers, clients benefit by:
- Lowered risk of sample cross contamination during shipping.
- Samples can be labeled in consecutive order (1, 2, 3, etc.) streamlining accessioning.
- Reducing the need for sample recollection due to leakage during shipment.
- Minimize sample waste disposal and potential additional charges.
- Helping to keep testing costs down by reducing laboratory sample processing time.
